Web Standards
We have developed a more consistent look for Web sites throughout the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and working with academic units to redesign their sites to integrate the new Web standards. Templates are now available in both Drupal and Dreamweaver format. Academic units and centers may choose to use Drupal (recommended) or continue using their existing format for Web delivery (Dreamweaver Contribute in many cases). If you or someone on your staff would like training in either of these programs please attend a UTO training session.

- Labs that do not reside on asu.edu Web space and research projects that are grant- or government-funded shall show their ASU affiliation through the use of logo or text. The Web site should meet the university standards for professional design and messaging, usability and accessibility.
- All Web sites are subject to review by the CLAS Web Editorial Board.
Resources for Research Centers and Institutes
-
Basic: Section of an academic unit Web Site: The PCG team will help redesign the site if it is built as a section of the school or department Web site and does not have an exclusive presence.
-
Internal Resources: If a research center or institute wishes to employ internal resources to create and maintain its Web site, assistance will be provided through training sessions hosted for the college. It will be expected that the internal resource follows university and college communication standards.
-
Contracted Services: A research center or institute may build a Web site through contract services. UTO maintains a list of trained service providers at commguide.asu.edu/web/vendors. Any costs incurred with the design and maintenance of the Web site shall be the responsibility of the research center or institute. It will be expected that the vendor follows university and college communication standards.
Templates are available for centers and institutes in their redesign efforts.
Web Standards for Faculty Web Sites
Personal faculty Web sites, including those that document their lab activities, are not required to follow the college standards but may be required to follow ASU standards if housed on asu.edu (See commguide.asu.edu/web). Formatting of personal faculty pages is under the discretion of the department or unit. Please note that these sites are a reflection of the college and ASU and therefore should meet the university standards for professional design and messaging, usability and accessibility.
